TouchSports Tennis ‘09 Review

Review by Matt Dunn

TS Tennis is a great looking Tennis game for the iPhone. The controls work well. The sound is good. It will surely impress your friends, but can it impress a hard-assed critic like me? ;)

My little tank, published by Astraware is a classic top down shooter which shares similarities with the helicopter game Blues Skies in its presentation and gameplay style, but with it being a tank game at a slower pace.

Soul Trapper: Episode 1 review

Review by Nigel Wood

Soul Trapper: Episode 1 by Realtime Associates is a unique game on the iPhone. Almost completely audio based, the game is best described as an interactive novel. You play as Kane Price, a bit of a loser who has inherited a machine from his dead/ or missing father. The machine is called the Soul Trap, and with the help from a friend of your fathers, you take on the roll of both Ghost buster and Detective in this action thriller. [More →]

Bike or Die! 2 Review

Review by Matt Dunn

The original Bike or Die! game from Toyspring has a 4-year legacy going right now. It was, and continues to be, one of the most popular PDA/cellphone games out there, and has a lively community behind it. With a brand new 3D graphics engine, the iPhone’s touch screen, and a massive amount of content, does the sequel live up to it’s predecessor? Duh.

Jumble Quick Review

Review by Matt Dunn

Jumble is a great looking game that takes a few fun twists to the stacking puzzle game genre. It may not have the cutesy charm of it’s current competitor, Topple, but it makes up for that with some fun gameplay mechanics, and unique sets of items!

1112 - An interactive adventure

Alex from Agharta studio has sent us news that their new game ‘1112: episode 1′ is now available on the AppStore. I guess you could compare it to Myst on the Mac or Hotel Dusk on the DS, in that the game plays more like an interactive novel, allowing you to touch and examine objects in the environments in order to progress deeper into the story. This…is…SPAAARRRTTTAAA!

Pocket gamer got some time to play with Hero of Sparta at Gameloft HQ as well as some screenshots of the game in action. I must admit it looks promising, and certainly a worthy challenger to Kroll as the best looking GOW style game for iPHone. You can read the article here

Touchgrind review

By Nigel Wood

The 90s were witness to many toy crazes. Pogs, Yo-yos, Tomagotchi, Beanie Babies and Troll Dolls to name but a few. Another was finger skateboards, or to name a brand, the ‘Tech Deck’. These mini skateboards allowed you to steer them and perform tricks with just your index and middle fingers. I’ll have to admit, I was no good at controlling a tech deck, but  there were some people who mastered the art almost as good as a full sized, pro skateboarder. As much as I sucked, I always thought it was pretty cool… well I was in my teens, and easily impressed.

Meteor Updated

When I originally reviewed Meteor, it got 3 1/2 stars, due to some frustrating controls and a few other things. Luckily, the developer has since fixed all these issues:

- autosave error - fixed;
- frustrating levels - modified;
- the finger bar has been added to control the rocket paddle;
- mutitouch is now supported, so it is possible to control the rocket
and shoot missiles at the same time.

If you passed it up before, definitely give it a look now, as it plays much better! :)

Zero Hour Quick Review

Review by Matt Dunn

Zero hour is a game that pits you against oncoming fighter planes as the gunner for a battleship. An exciting premise to be sure. Unfortunately, this game feels like it was cut short half way through, and really could have been so much more than a quick demo-like experience.

Smiles Review

Review by Matt Dunn

Smiles is a surprisingly good puzzle game. In fact, I’m having a hard time finding anything wrong with it! It’s so hard to find fault with a game that’s just so damn happy - and so damn good.
